Special KAC Coffeehouse concert honors founder’s legacy
CLINTON — Cathy Fink and Marcy Marxer perform a special evening of music to celebrate Ginger Parker’s legacy at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 4, at the Kirkland Art Center, 9 1/2 East Park Row.
Parker was the founder and driving force behind the KAC Coffeehouse. She passed away in January 2021.
Two-time Grammy Award winners, Fink and Marxer are master musicians with a career spanning over 35 years - including many appearances at KAC Coffeehouse. They were one of Parker’s favorites.
The duo earned Grammys for their recordings “cELLAbration: a Tribute to Ella Jenkins” and “Bon Appétit!: Musical Food Fun.” Their CDs “Postcards” and “Banjo Talkin’” were Grammy finalists in the Best Traditional Folk Album category. They currently live in Silver Spring, Maryland and Lansing, North Carolina.
Their superb harmonies are backed by instrumental virtuosity on the guitar, five-string banjo, ukulele, mandolin, cello-banjo and many other instruments. Their repertoire ranges from western swing to bluegrass, gypsy jazz to contemporary folk and old-time string band to some original gems.
This classic KAC Coffeehouse will be complete with checkered tablecloths, a 50/50 raffle and baked goods downstairs. Tickets are $20 for general admission and $18 for KAC members.
