Sovena USA gives $10,000, olive oil to local charities

Sovena USA, headquartered in Rome, recently donated a total of $10,000 and more than 80 gallons of olive oil to local charities during the holiday season.

For the second year in a row, Sovena, one of the largest olive oil companies in the world, donated to Feed Our Vets, Rescue Mission of Utica, Rescue Mission of Rome and the Karing Kitchen in Oneida.

The cases were made up of their 20 mL pouches, which are easier for single use and more convenient for the recipients. These donations were made on behalf of all of Sovena’s employees.

“After working with these charities in years prior, we got an even better idea of just how impactful they are in helping our community prosper,” Natalie Jennings, marketing associate at Sovena, said. “We value our relationship with them and are happy to be able to help in their initiatives to give back and support the people of Rome and Utica.”

The Utica and Rome Rescue Missions offer services for their community needs, including emergency shelter, meals, supportive permanent housing, employment resources and spiritual care. Feed Our Vets provides free food assistance to more than 20,000 veterans and their family members. Karing Kitchen is a soup kitchen in Oneida.

“Community involvement is a fundamental value at Sovena USA,” managing director Enrique Escudero said. “This time of year, we consider ourselves fortunate to be able to give back to these incredible organizations who do so much good for the community we live and work in.”
