Sound Garden underway at RACC

The Rome Art and Community Center, 308 W. Bloomfield St., recently received funding from the Rome Community Foundation to begin a multi-year Sound Garden project on the grounds of the Center.

The plan is to install one to two musical elements each year until there is a total of ten elements around the property. “This will be a wonderful addition to Rome as there is nothing like it in the area,” Jean M. Lieber, RACC executive director, said.

The City’s Building and Grounds crew installed the first element this week — a set of four musical flowers. These flowers each come with an attached mallet that when used on the peddles creates various musical notes.

“The Rome Art and Community Center would like to thank the Rome Community Foundation for their generosity and the City’s Building and Grounds for installing them,” Lieber said.
