Sons of Mystro performs Oct. 1
UTICA — Munson-Williams Museum of Art opens its 2022-2023 Concerts in the Court series at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct.1 with a performance by Miami-based electric violin duo Sons of Mystro.
They will perform popular music by artists like Bruno Mars, Bob Marley, Drake and Michael Jackson with a deejay and drummer.
Sons of Mystro are brothers Malcolm McNeish, 23, and his brother, Umoja, 20, who are the protégés of hip-hop duo Black Violin. The duo has won the “Emerging Artist Under 21 Award’’ at the International Reggae and World Music Awards, opened for Sean Paul and the Fray, and their version of “Back in Black AC/DC” was the theme for the Miami Heat’s 2011-2012 season.
Concerts in the Court events include late-night admission to the museum, a cash bar, gallery talks by museum curators and an intimate live performance by a nationally touring act surrounded by works of art in the Edward Root Sculpture Court at the museum. General admission is $38, members are $33 and students are $15.
