Camden, the top seed of the Section III Class B softball postseason, continued its unbeaten season by scoring in all six innings of a 15-1 win over visiting Holland Patent Tuesday.

SOFTBALL PLAYOFF ROUNDUP: Unbeaten Camden advances to Class B quarters
Camden, the top seed of the Section III Class B softball postseason, continued its unbeaten season by scoring in all six innings of a 15-1 win over visiting Holland Patent Tuesday.
The Blue Devils (21-0) advanced to the quarterfinals with the victory. They’ll host the eight seed, fellow Tri-Valley League team Notre Dame (13-5) at 6:30 p.m. Thursday. When the teams played a doubleheader May 15, Camden swept the games 15-4 and 15-3.
Tuesday, six Blue Devils had multi-hit games. Brooke Musch had five hits including a triple, with two RBIs and four runs. Camryn Shenk singled and tripled with two RBIs and three runs. Avery Prievo had a single and triple with two RBIs and a run. Avery Shenk had two doubles and two runs. Kendall Musch had a single and double with two RBIs and a run. Ryleigh Johnson singled and doubled with two RBIs.
Johnson also earned the win with a complete game effort, allowing an earned run on four hits and six walks. She struck out nine.
HP’s Michaela Cushman threw a complete game in the loss.
Maggie Cummings doubled and scored for HP and Ella Armitage singled and drove in the run.
Jugglers advance
Notre Dame earned its shot at Camden, the top seed in the Class B postseason, with a 16-2 win over Solvay at home Tuesday.
Ella Trinkaus threw a complete game for the eight seed in the win over the nine seed, allowing two unearned runs on three hits with nine strikeouts.
Maggie Trinkaus smacked a pair of home runs for a five-RBI day with three runs. Erin Trinkaus singled and tripled, scored and drove in four. Bella Zalocha had two singles and a triple, an RBI and three runs. Bella Roberts had three singles, two RBIs and two runs. Vita Waters singled and doubled, drove in one and scored twice.
Statistics for Solvay were not submitted.
Oriskany cruises past Lyme
Oriskany, the second seed in the Class D postseason, advanced to the quarterfinals with a 15-0 win at home over Lyme Tuesday.
Juliet Tagliaferri pitched the complete game for the win. She struck out 10 and gave up one hit and did not walk a batter.
Oriskany put the game out of reach with six runs in the third and six more in the fourth. Brooke Matys was 3-for-4 with a double, Kaelyn Buehler was 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs and Lani Roberts was 2-for-3 with two RBIs. Kyla Zabek, Kaylee Burnop and Koley VanVechten all doubled.
Alana Langdon took the pitching loss for Lyme.
Oriskany (15-4) will host seventh-seeded Poland (13-4) at 5 p.m. Thursday.
Bulldogs score early and often
The Westmoreland offense put up 14 runs in the first three innings of Tuesday’s Class C second round 16-7 win against visiting Cato Meridian.
Five Bulldogs had three-hit games. Samantha Ferguson had two singles and a double with an RBI and three runs. Lily Mazur and Ally Kingwater, Olivia Moore and Jenna Tyczynski each had three singles, two runs and an RBI. Madison Thurston had two hits, two runs and an RBI. Autumn Millington had a home run, three RBIs and two runs.
Moore also got the win in the circle, going all seven innings and allowing four earned runs on nine hits and three walks with three strikeouts.
Statistics for Cato Meridian were not submitted.
Westmoreland (13-5), the seven seed, travels to second-seeded Sandy Creek (16-2) on Thursday at a time to be announced.
Herkimer gets shut out
Ninth-seeded Herkimer was eliminated from the Class C playoffs with a 15-0 second round loss at eight seed Port Byron Tuesday.
Port Byron’s Nikki Namisniak threw a six-inning complete game, two-hitter. She walked three and struck out five. She had five hits including a triple on offense, with six RBIs and three runs.
