SNAPSHOT: State grant to fund former Columbus School teardown
The City of Rome has received $1.5 million from New York Governor Kathy Hochul to tear down the former Columbus School on Columbus Avenue. The grant is part of the 2022 Round 7 Restore NY Communities Initiative Municipal Grant, which awarded money to several cities and counties across the state. Hochul announced the money on Monday. The grant will be used to demolish and dispose of materials from the former Columbus School, which has been unoccupied since 2005.
