FLAG RETIREMENT — The Holland Patent Chapter of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution hosted a flag retirement ceremony on Saturday at the Leon H. Roberts American Legion Post 161. Above, Anne Edwards, a HPDAR member and past chapter regent, prepares flags for the ceremony. Also helping to prepare the flags for retirement and joining in the ceremony were Children of the American Revolution, NYDAR District V Director Mary Cardinale, Fort Stanwix DAR Chapter Regent Erin Gurdak, Astenrogen DAR Chapter Regent-Elect Naomi Starsiak, and Skenandoah DAR Chapter Regent Sue Bowley, as well as members of Roberts Post, the Roberts Post Auxiliary, and community members. More than 1,000 flags were retired.
