UTICA — The Oneida County Health Department, in collaboration with the Mohawk Valley Health System, is offering a free series of classes to aid in smoking cessation.
Classes will be held Mondays Nov. 12 and 19 in the Sister M. Johanna Conference Room at the St. Elizabeth campus, 2209 Genesee St., Utica. Refreshments will be provided and those who complete the program will receive a $25 grocery store gift card.
The classes aim to help participants increase their motivation to quit, learn effective approaches for quitting, reach success in their quitting attempt. Classes provide skills for coping with cravings as well as group support, and are open to all Oneida County residents 18 years or older.
OCDH and MVHS will also offer a smoking cessation support group meeting on Thursday, Nov. 15 form 5 to 6:30 p.m. The support group will meet in the second floor conference room at the St. Luke campus, 1656 Champlin Ave., Utica, and refreshments will be available.
