Sign-ups are being taken for tours of the Madison County Courthouse at its May 25 grand re-opening after 18 months of restoration, the county Board of Supervisors announced.
Guided tours will begin at 2 p.m. on the day of the event and start every 15 minutes until 5 p.m., and take approximately an hour. Sign-ups for guaranteed spots can help avoid lines. Time slots may be reserved at the county website, www.madisoncounty.ny.gov.
Tours will feature the history of the building and efforts made to restore key historic aspects, including the stained-glass windows, marble floors, portraits of Madison County judges, as well as new areas, redesigned courtrooms and offices, and to hear from retired judges who worked there.
