The Tug Hill Tomorrow Land Trust (THTLT) will sponsor a natural history woods walk from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, June 29 in the Stone Barn State Forest.
Experienced birder, naturalist, and artist Robert McNamara will lead this free guided walk in the woods. Plan to meet at McNamara’s house at 46 Reservoir Drive in Cleveland. Stone Barn State Forest is located north of Oneida Lake, just east and a little north of Cleveland.
The walk will be off-trail, with varied terrain throughout, and is best for older children and adults. Walkers will explore the woods to find the best bird habitats, and stop to observe other living creatures as they reveal themselves. There will also be a visit to Great Blue Heron rookery, with the hope of seeing young herons in the nests.
Attendees are asked to pack their binoculars, camera, water, tick repellent and a brown bag lunch. Comfortable hiking shoes are required for the moderate, off-trail, 2-3 mile hike.
Register for the free walk by going online to: www.tughilltomorrowlandtrust.org/events, emailing firstname.lastname@example.org or by calling 315-779-2239.
