COLUMN: Shy Darla needs a home
Hi Winston! I am Darla, a 4-year-old pitbull-boxer mix who is residing at the shelter until I find my forever home. There are so many of us still waiting!
What can I tell you about myself? Well, the first thing that comes to mind is that I am extremely shy, especially around people that I don’t know very well. I keep to myself and am very laid back until I get to know someone. Once that happens, however, I will be someone’s very best friend. I am very playful and loving.
I do get along well with cats but would do best in a home with no other dogs or small children. I enjoy a calm atmosphere and need time to adjust to a new environment. My favorite thing is to play with squeaky toys so any home that has those in stock would be a “yes!” for me. I am looking for that special someone who can give me time, patience and a lot of TLC. I like going for walks and have excellent leash manners. Thank you!
Winston says: Hi Darla, thank you for writing and letting us know exactly what type of home would best fit your personality. It’s your time to shine in the spotlight! What dog doesn’t love squeaky toys? I am sure there is a household filled with them just waiting for you. Good luck!
Cats: Zeke, Cheese, Stanley, Meisha, Marley, Tiger, Misty, Dabney, Baxter, Denisia, Marty, Sprout, Kady, Whitney, Baloo, Martin, Puma, Raphael, Dixie, Mike, Liliano, Blackie, Dakota, Arizona, Mikey, Winston, Mowgli, Benny, Phil, and Rose.
Dogs: Arya, Rex, Alaya, Diamond, Oliver, Echo, Shiba, Dot, Roxie, and Georgie.
It’s that time of year when spring is upon us. What does that mean to an animal shelter? Kittens and puppies! Which leads me to let my readers know that we welcome your very kind donations, especially those made for our spay/neuter fund. The rising cost of spaying and neutering our animals is sometimes overwhelming. We thank you for your support.
