Show spotlights Central Adirondack arts

OLD FORGE — View Arts Center, 3273 Route 28, is, as its website points out, “dedicated to inspiring the lives of individuals visiting or residing in this magnificent natural area. It also serves as a community center, a conference facility and a venue for special events” in the Old Forge area. (

Open year-round, View draws artists from across North America for its juried exhibitions, and shows the work of regional and local artists.

One of the long-standing traditions is the Central Adirondack Arts Show, scheduled April 13 through June 19. Some of the finest artists throughout the Central Adirondack Region and beyond are featured. The show is open to current artists ages 16 and older who are either members of View or reside within 200 miles of Old Forge.

Through its donors, View will provide a series of awards to selected participating artists. Each award winner will receive a traditional handmade Adirondack Chip Award. Select awards will also include a monetary prize.

This year’s awards judge is Robert Imundo, an artist currently living and working in the Adirondacks.

An artist reception will be held on Friday, May 4, from 5-7 p.m. The reception is free.
