Shotgun used in Utica threat, police say
UTICA — A 39-year-old man is accused of threatening other people with a shotgun on Rutger Street very early Sunday morning, according to the Utica Police Department.
Police said Jermar Jackson, of Utica, got into an argument with several other people in the 900 block of Rutger St. at about 1 a.m. Sunday. Police said Jackson went back to his vehicle, grabbed the shotgun, then brought it back to the argument.
Jackson pointed the shotgun at the other people and made threats to shoot them, authorities stated.
Officers responded to the scene and took both Jackson and the weapon into custody.
Jackson is charged with one count each of second-degree possession of a weapon and criminal possession of a firearm, police said. He is scheduled to appear in Utica City Court.
