Shirley M. (Kenhart) Francis
Shirley M. Francis, 86, of Durhamville, died early Saturday morning, June 11, 2022, in the emergency room at Oneida Health Hospital.
Shirley was born on May 24, 1936, in Browndale, PA, the daughter of Edward and Violetta Schaffer Kenhart. She graduated from Vestal Central School in 1954 and graduated from Long Island University with a bachelor’s degree in nursing. She then received her master’s degree in psychology.
On November 16, 1958, Shirley was united in marriage to Paul R. Francis in Park Ave. Baptist Church in Binghamton.
Shirley was a registered nurse with NYS DDSO for over thirty years, retiring in 1998.
Shirley enjoyed sewing, quilting, crafting, gardening, berry picking, and rock painting with the grandkids.
Surviving besides her loving husband of sixty-three years, Paul; are her five children, Stephen (Teresa) Francis, of Yorkville, Jeffrey Francis (Val Allen), of Durhamville, Suzanne (James) Lupinski, of Durhamville, Sherri (Richard) Hilts, of Greenway, and Beth (Edward) Green, of Canastota; two brothers, Edward (Joan) Kenhart, of Candor, NY, and Gerald (April) Kenhart, of Whitney Point, NY; a sister, Patricia (Casey) Tombs, of Binghamton; fourteen grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, June 15, 2022, at 11 a.m. at St. Peter’s Church Lutheran Church, 4897 Old Oneida Rd., Verona. There are no calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made in Shirley’s memory to the Salvation Army, 6666 Buyea Rd., Canastota, NY, 13032.
