SHERRILL — Sherrill Manufacturing, the only stainless steel flatware manufacturer left in the United States, is ramping up production to meet demand.

The company sells flatware and other Made in USA tabletop, kitchen and patio items online via their website www.libertytabletop.com Sherrill Manufacturing also produces two lines of flatware for the U.S. Military and sells via a GSA contract as well as distributors focused on government business.

“We will continue to expand production and hire for positions we were planning on filling in order to meet our increased demand on the consumer and government sides of the business,” Co-Founder and President Matthew Roberts said. “It is important that we take all prudent measures to protect our employees and our customers from the impact of the Corona Virus emergency. This means protecting their health and safety on and off the job but also means continuing to provide them with a job as a means to earn a living.”

“We have seen a lot of hoarding, price gouging and some grandstanding out there as a result of this situation,” Co-Founder and CEO Greg Owens said. “We felt the best thing to do would be to help our economy and our company by doing the opposite. So we put all of our flatware on sale at our best price of the year to help ease the burden on consumers. Lessening the negative impact of the Corona Virus situation on our economy is something we should all be focused on as we react to this crisis. We also feel very strongly that there has never been a better time to buy American.”

Owens added that a key part of buying American is selling direct via e-commerce. “Our factory to table sales approach eliminates the risk of having to visit the store and avoids all customer contact for our employees during this period of recommended social distancing,” he said.

Sherrill Manufacturing is located in Sherrill, 27 miles east of Syracuse. The company was founded in 2005 when Owens and Roberts purchased substantially all of the manufacturing assets of Oneida, Ltd. Located at the New York Facility. The company currently employs 56.
