TOWN OF LEE — A seasonal storage shed on Capron Road was destroyed, along with a pickup truck and several snowmobiles, by fire early Sunday.

Lee Center Fire Chief James R. Rouillier said the two-story, pole barn shed was used to house an old pickup truck and the snowmobiles, all of which were lost in the fire.

The lone shed was located between Weaver and Streun roads. A neighbor across the street noticed the flames and called 9-1-1 at 5:22 a.m.

Volunteers from five fire departments responded and launched a “surround and drown” attack, Rouillier stated.

The flames took about three hours to knock down, and by then, the chief said the barn was a total loss.

“It was gone,” Rouillier stated.

The identity of the owner of the barn was not immediately available. Rouillier said the cause the fire remains under investigation, and it is not suspicious. No one was injured.

The Lee Center, Lake Delta, West Leyden, Taberg and Westernville fire departments responded.
