Several area athletes named TVL all-league selections

The Tri-Valley League has announced the all-league selections for boys and girls indoor track and field.

In the Colonial Division, Rome Free Academy’s Collin Gannon was named to the list for the 55-meter dash and 55 hurdles. He was also named to the all-league team for both events.

Kaden Elliot of RFA was named for the 600 and 1,000. He was also named to the all-league team for both events.

Also named all-league and all-division were Christhian Cuevas of Proctor in the 55 and 300, Jake Dembro of New Hartford in the 55 hurdles, Jack Towns of Whitesboro in the 300, Niko Tidmore of Proctor in the 600, Omar Mohammed of Proctor in the 1,000 and 1600, Owen Sweet of Proctor in the 1,600 and 3,200 and Alex Tibbitts of Whitesboro in the 3,200. The Whitesboro 800 relay team was also named to the lists. Proctor’s 1,600 and 3,200 relays teams were also all-league and all-division.

Named all-division in the Colonial were Towns in the 55, Kevin Merette of Proctor in the 55 hurdles, Tidmore in the 300, Mohammed in the 600, Sweet in the 1,000, Gaetano Fornino of New Hartford in the 1,600 and Henry Daley of New Hartford in the 3,200. The Proctor 800 relay team, Whitesboro 1,600 relay team and New Hartford 3,200 relay team were also named all-division.

Also named all-league and all-division were high jumpers Adeyemi Mitchell of and Christian Sanchez of Proctor, Tibbitts and Noah Otto of Whitesboro in pole vault, Towns and Merette in the long jump, Merette and Gregory Barmore of New Hartford in the triple jump, and Leonardo Checo and Xavier Singletown of Proctor in the shot put and weight throw.

All-division honors went to Ethan Brown of New Hartford in the high jump, Daley in the triple jump and Justin Kain of New Hartford in shot put and weight throw.

In the Pioneer Division, all-league and all-division honors went to Aaxavier Howard of Central Valley Academy and James Wheeler of Vernon-Verona-Sherrill in the 55, Nicholas Shedd of CVA and Reilly Delaney of Camden in the 55 hurdles, Tanner Warren of CVA and Tyler Wittmann of VVS in the 300, Warren and Dillan Melchiore of Camden in the 600, Melchiore and Jordan Wingert of VVS in the 1,000, Wingert and Keegan Bauer of VVS in the 1,600 and Bauer and Reid Hooker of Camden in the 3,200.

The relays teams to get all-league and all-division were CVA in the 800 and 1,600 and Camden in the 3,200.

Named all-division in the Pioneer were Warren in the 55, Samuel Jacquays of CVA in the 55 hurdles, Melchiore in the 300, Delaney in the 600, Ben Bellinger of VVS in the 1,000, Hooker in the 1,600 and Bauer in the 3,200. Also named were the VVS 800 relay, Camden’s 1,600 relay and VVS’ 3,200 relay.

All-league and all-division honors also went to Jacquays and Joe Urtz of CVA in the high jump, Shedd and Joel Marji of Oneida in the pole vault, Howard and Wheeler in the long jump, Jacquays and Wingert in the triple jump and Paul Heller and Rob Kieffer of Camden in the shot put and weight throw.

Howard set a TVL record in the long jump at 22 feet and one-half inch.

All-division honors went to Wittmann in the high jump, Dylan Meszler of CVA in the pole vault, Melchiore in the long jump, Delaney in the triple jump and Joe Doran of Camden in the shot put and weight throw.

Honors for girls track

For the girls, RFA had five athletes named to the Colonial Division first team as well as two relay teams.

Emily Toth-Ratazzi was chosen for the 600-meter run and the 3,000. Marlo Townsend was selected for the 1,000 and 1,500. Imani Pugh was chosen for the 55 hurdles. Johari Taylor was selected for the 55. Kaylee Bertini was chosen for the high jump.

The RFA 800 relay of Taylor, Alex Tapia, Bertini and Pugh was named to the first team. So too was the RFA 3,200 relay team of Julissa Luciano, Shavaia Parry, Townsend and Toth-Ratazzi.

Other Colonial Division first team selections were Whitesboro’s Haley Cornine in the 300, Proctor’s Tamiah Washington in the long jump and triple jump, Proctor’s Adrianna Cieslak in the pole vault, Proctor’s Jennifer Romero in the shot put and Whitesboro’s Megan Brink in the weight throw. The Proctor 1,600 relay team of Megan Lew, Jasmine Gonzalez-Rivera, Olga Akhremenko and Kaleigh Simpson was also honored.

The first team selections from the Pioneer Division were Vernon-Verona-Sherrill’s Grace Croft in teh 55, VVS’ Cora Wheeler in the 55 hurdles and long jump, Central Valley Academy’s Morgan Szeflinski in the 300, Camden’s Elizabeth Lucason in the 600 and 3,000, VVS’ Lacey Simmons in the 1,000 and 1,500, VVS’ Camryn Shea in the triple jump, VVS’ Grace Dam in the high jump, CVA’s Grace Scanlon in the pole vault, Oneida’s Elaina Cook in the shot put and VVS’ Paige Novak in the weight throw.

The first team relay teams were VVS in the 800 with a team of Grace Croft, Eva Croft, Dam and Simmons; CVA in the 1,600 with a team of Mallory Mower, Alexis White, Isabella Kleban and Szeflinski; and the Camden 3,200 team of Lucason, Ivy Murphy, Sydney Coleman and Emma Bolster.

RFA athletes named to the Colonial second team are Tapia in the 55 hurdles, Taylor in the 300 and Pugh in the long jump.

Joining them on the Colonial second team are Elise Leuthauser of Whitesboro, Gonzalez-Rivera in the 600 and 1,000, Lew in the 1,500 and 3,000, Whitesboro’s Emma Fasolo in the triple jump, New Hartford’s Kaleigh Durso in the high jump, Whitesboro’s Julia Hill in the pole vault, Brink in the shot put and Romero in the weight throw.

The second team relay teams were the Proctor 800 group of Toni Brown, Washington, Cieslak and Keyani Geigel; the Whitesboro 1600 group of Angelina Levkovets, Catherine Manna, Sophia Celia and Cornine; and the Proctor 3,200 group of Lew, Gonzalez-Rivera, Simpson and Akhremenko.

The Pioneer Division second team honorees are CVA’s Alexis White in the 55 hurdles, Szeflinski in the 55, Grace Croft in the 300 and triple jump, CVA’s Jenna Johnson in the 600, Coleman in the 1,000 and 1,500, Oneida’s Julianna Elberson in the 3,000, Shea in the long jump, CVA’s Kiera Wilbur in the high jump, Novak in the shot put and Dam in the weight throw. The second team relays are CVA in the 800 with Mower, Johnson, Emma Donahue and Szeflinski; VVS in the 1,600 with Dam, Simmons, Emily Kline and Natalie Hurd; and Oneida’s 3,200 team of Elberson, Sophia Davis, Josie Capotosto and Hannah Jeffery.

Colonial Division honorable mentions were RFA’s Malaysia Thomas in the shot put and Jayleen Rodriguez in the weight throw and Cieslak in the 55.

Pioneer Division honorable mentions were Camden’s Ivy Murphy in the 3,000 and CVA long jumper Keeley Tutty.
