Sandra L. “Sandy, Suzie” Baker, 52 of Point Rock lost a hard and courageous battle to cancer on Sunday, March 10, 2019. She was at home surrounded by her family and friends. Born in Rome on May 31, 1966, she was the daughter of the late Francis J. Baker and late Frances A. Carney.
Sandy always said that her greatest accomplishments were her children and grandchildren, Adam Baker and Nikki with Rielyn and Jaeley of Rome, Toddrin Baker with Kelsie, Masen and Cheylin of Rome, and Jamie Baker and Joe with Adam, Trae, Jaylena and Tango of Rome, and the late Jadreck Baker.
She is also survived by her husband, Rudolf Straub; five brothers, Robert Baker and Denise, Michael Baker and Crystal, Steven Baker, Gregory Baker and Thomas Carney; one sister, Connie Jo Longamore and Michael; friend and sister-in-law, Mildred Baker; two long time friends, Anissa Kelly and Joy Nemo; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles. She was predeceased by her parents, her son Jadreck and a grandson Eithen Theall.
Sandy will always be remembered as a very loving and compassionate woman by so many.
Family and friends are invited to call at Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc., 418 N. George St., Rome, on Saturday, March 16, from 1-3 p.m. Graveside services will take place on June 8, at 2 p.m. at Point Rock Cemetery.
