Sammy’s Cafe in New Hartford announces sudden closure
NEW HARTFORD — The beloved breakfast and lunch spot Sammy’s Cafe in New Hartford announced that it has closed via a Tuesday, Aug. 30 Facebook post.
The post read, “As we close our doors, we want to say thank you to our loyal customers, family, and friends for your business and support throughout the years. It’s been a pleasure to serve you!”
Sammy’s was a family-owned cafe and was located at 34 Genesee St. in New Hartford. Before Sammy’s opened, Casab’s Deli occupied the space.
Donald Ryan, mayor of the village of New Hartford, said that while it’s always sad to see a restaurant close, the location is good and he’s hopeful that another restaurant or vendor will open up shop.
“It’s sad to see a business go out of business, that’s for sure. The restaurants really suffered through COVID and it’s been really difficult to find people to work and all the difficulties that they go through,” Ryan said.
