Patrolman Thomas R. Medlin III has been named the Rome Police Department’s Officer of the Month for March.
Medlin is being honored for his efforts to plan and organize the department’s Autism Awareness Campaign for the month of April. Medlin designed and obtained colorful new police patches and decals that were worn by officers and affixed to patrol vehicles.
Authorities said Medlin raised more than $2,000 for the Kelberman Center through the campaign. The Kelberman Center provides programs, services and evaluations for individuals with autism and their families.
Medlin joined the Rome Police Department in September 2007.
