Tamburino’s four goals lift Westmo/Oriskany over UAS

Jack Tamburino all four of his goals in the first half of the Westmoreland/Oriskany boys soccer team’s 5-1 win Friday over host Utica Academy of Science in the Center State Conference.

Nick Hays also scored for the Bulldogs. Anthony Sawanec and Tyler Tamburino collected an assist each.

David Cronauer made six saves in goal and also scored while Hays was in goal with a save in split time.

Rifet Sokolar scored for Utica on an assist from Abdulkamir Osman.

Luismark Martinez made four saves in net for Utica.

Westmoreland-Oriskany is now 9-2 and plays at 7 tonight at Canastota in the league.

Utica Academy of Science, 5-4, hosts Clinton in the league at 4:30 p.m. today.

Six goals by six players gets Sauquoit balanced win

Six different Sauquoit Valley players each scored a goal in a 6-0 win over visiting Sherburne-Earlville Friday in the Center State.

Vitaliy Chumkh and Quincy Stayton had a goal and an assist each. Also scoring were Nicholas Giuliano, James Henck, Colin Jones and Jake Latino. Zackary Murphy, Allen Brown and Zachary Latino each had an assist.

Alex Prichard had a save and Broc Barker had two in split time in goal for Sauquoit.

Goalkeeper Avery Parsons recorded 12 saves for the Marauders.

Sauquoit plays at 5 p.m. today at Frankfort-Schuyler in the league.

RFA shut out in soccer loss

The RFA boys soccer team lost 1-0 at home to East Syracuse Minoa Saturday in a non-league contest.

Henry Callahan scored the game’s lone goal on an assist from Anel Suljic.

Parker Gamble had a dozen saves and Reide Scolaro had one in split time in goal for ESM.

RFA statistics were not submitted.

RFA hosts Utica Proctor at 4:30 p.m. today in the Tri-Valley League.

Whitesboro falls in overtime

Mike Meskos scored the game-winning goal with 3:26 remaining in the first overtime for Jamesville-Dewitt at Whitesboro in boys soccer Saturday in non-league play.

The goal was assisted by Sam Allen on a free kick. Allen also made four saves in goal to earn the shutout.

Kaidan Fischer stopped six shots in net for the Warriors in the loss.

Whitesboro visited New Hartford in the Tri-Valley Monday. Results were not available at press time.

RFA soccer gets past Bees

The Rome Free Academy girls soccer team won 2-1 at home over non-league opponent Baldwinsville Saturday 2-1.

Mikayla McPheron and Brynn Furbeck scored for the Black Knights. Brooke Egresits and Nicolina Lokker had an assist each.

Miranda McCormick made 10 saves in goal for RFA.

Nicole Pelletier had the lone goal for the Bees. Carlie Young had three saves and Alyssa Luce had two in split time in goal.

RFA plays at Utica Proctor at 4:30 p.m. today in the TVL.

Sauquoit edges out Clinton

The Sauquoit Valley girls soccer team earned a 4-3 win at home over Clinton Saturday in non-league play.

Ella Dischiavo scored twice in the win. Addison Lazarek had a goal and an assist. Kamryn Yerman also scored. Olivia Kalil had an assist.

Jadyn Land stopped four shots in goal for Sauquoit.

Ava Lopata scored twice in the loss. Lydia DeTraglia scored and had an assist for Clinton. Paige Luke collected an assist.

Deanna Heintz had 21 saves for Clinton.

Sauquoit hosted Cooperstown in the Center State Monday. Results were not available at press time.

Clinton hosted Adirondack in the league Monday. Results were not available at press time.

Thunder top Red Devils

The Central Valley Academy girls soccer team won 2-1 at Vernon-Verona-Sherrill Saturday in the Tri-Valley League.

Megan Canipe scored and had an assist for CVA. Izzy Terzioski also scored. Sophia Watkins had an assist.

Hoffman Payton made six saves in net for the win.

Laiken Kiser scored VVS’ lone goal. Emma Dam had six saves and Grace Maranville had three in split time.

CVA hosts Oneida in the league at 6 p.m. today.

VVS hosts Utica Notre Dame at 7 tonight in the league.

Enos scores twice in Westmo win

Madalynne Enos had a pair of goals and an assist to help Westmoreland soccer to a 4-1 home win over Adirondack Saturday in non-league play.

Ava Geglia had a goal and an assist for the Bulldogs. Samantha Ferguson also scored. Olivia Moore and Ella McGregor had an assist each.

Emily Gubbins stopped two shots for Westmoreland.

Adirondack’s lone goal came from Jenna Schaffner. Morgan Hutchins made 11 saves in net for the Wildcats.

Westmoreland played a Center State game Monday at Herkimer. Results were not available at press time.

Adirondack played a league game at Clinton Monday.

Remsen blanks Oriskany

Imagin Aiken stopped all five shots she faced to help Remsen to a 3-0 win at Oriskany in girls soccer Saturday in the Center State. Julia Dening did all the scoring with a hat trick.

Grace Shufelt and Marissa Karis had an assist each.

Grimm sisters score three in Clinton field hockey win

Gretchen Grimm scored twice and Gracen Grimm also got a goal in the Clinton field hockey team’s 3-1 win at VVS Saturday in non-league game.

Skyler McFadden had a pair of assists for the Warriors. Sadie Davignon had one.

Chloe White made nine saves in goal for Clinton.

Meredith Guertin scored for the Red Devils. Devyn Balfe had six saves in goal.

On Friday, Clinton beat Cato-Meridian 6-0 at home in non-league play.

Gretchen Grimm had a hat trick and an assist. Gabby Gemelli scored and had an assist. Lauren Rey and Georgia Deep had a goal each. Gracen Grimm had an assist.

White made one save.

Cato goalie Marissa Bartholomew made 20 saves.

Clinton, now 11-1, hosts league foe Canastota at 4:30 p.m. today.

VVS and Camden play to a scoreless tie

On Friday, Camden and host VVS played a scoreless tie in TVL field hockey.

Devyn Balfe of VVS and Camden’s Abby Henderson made three saves each.

HP rolls past Oneida

The Holland Patent field hockey team scored three first quarter goals en route to a 5-0 win at Oneida in the TVL Friday. Alivia Alexander’s hat trick powered the Golden Knights’ offense.

Alexander also had an assist. Madison Oliver scored and had an assist. Izzy Stalker also scored. Maggie Cummings had an assist.

Bethany Honness had 10 saves in goal for Oneida. HP goalie statistics were not submitted.

HP hosted non-league opponent Baldwinsville Monday. Results were not available at press time.

Oneida hosted TVL foe New Hartford Monday.

VVS cross country competes in McQuaid Invitational

The Vernon-Verona-Sherrill cross country team competed in 57th McQuaid Invitational at Genesee Valley Park in Rochester Saturday.

The boys finished fifth out of 50 teams in the varsity A-1 race for small schools.

The Red Devils’ top eight finishers among the 376 runners were Killian Bauer in 18th, Benjamin Bellinger in 31st, Jordan Wingert in 34th, Nathan Geroux in 46th, Rowan Planck in 93rd, RJ Krupski in 138th, Fateh Syedin 141st and Brenden Genei in 142nd.

The team also finished 43rd out of 179 complete teams in the merged results.

The girls team was 23rd out of 36 in its race.

The individual runners’ finishes were Lacey Simmons in 48th, Natalie Hurd in 89th, Kasadee Leonard in 125th, Brilynne Stover in 191st, Ella Burton in 239th, Savannah Jones in 250th and Madeline Fox in 269th.
