The Rome Free Academy girls basketball team earned a pair of Tri-Valley League wins at home — 71-15 over Camden Friday and 66-34 over Thomas R. Proctor High School Saturday.

On Friday, the Black Knights ran out to a 19-6 first quarter lead and then held the Blue Devils off the scoreboard in the second quarter.

Amya McLeod led all scorers with 22 points Friday. Alysa Jackson had 19 points as well, including five three-pointers. Mia Mirabelli and Amiyah Ferebee had nine points each.

Katie McCarthy led Camden with five points.

On Saturday, it was Jackson leading RFA with 22 points and McLeod with 19. Jackson knocked down five threes again. Mirabelli had 13 points as well.

The Knights trailed 12-9 after a quarter but rallied to lead 25-21 at the half. They outscored the Raiders 26-8 in the third to pull away.

Proctor’s leading scorer was Aniya Irizzary with eight points.

RFA is now 7-3. The Knights play a TVL game at 7 tonight at Whitesboro.

Proctor (5-4) hosts New Hartford in the league at 7 tonight.

Camden holds on against HP

The Camden girls basketball team bounced back from a Friday loss to beat Holland Patent 51-45 Saturday at home in the TVL.

The Blue Devils built a 27-16 halftime lead.

Erica Zike led Camden with 21 points. McCarthy had nine points.

Holland Patent’s leading scorers were Michaela Cushman, Terra McLaughlin and Faith Zylinski with nine points each.

Camden (3-5) plays a league game at 7 tonight at Vernon-Verona-Sherrill.

HP (5-4) hosts Central Valley Academy at 7 tonight in the league.

Spartans open strong in win

The New Hartford girls basketball team held the Oneida offense in check early, establishing a 25-11 halftime lead en route to a 50-34 home win in the TVL Friday.

Kacey Richards had 11 points for the Spartans and Emily Alt had 10.

Kennedy Curro and Raelyn Barlow both had nine points for Oneida. Curro added seven rebounds.

New Hartford (5-1) plays on the road at 7 tonight in the league against Proctor.

Oneida (5-2) plays at Utica-Notre Dame at 7 tonight in the league.

Bulldogs get one-point win over Clinton

The Westmoreland girls basketball team eked out a 48-47 win at Clinton in the Center State Conference Friday.

Clinton led 12-6 after a quarter but Westmoreland bounced back to lead 25-22 at the half.

Westmoreland statistics were not provided.

Clinton’s Eva Gaetano and Abby Hemstrought had 12 points each. Gaetano had six rebounds and four steals. Hemstrought had six steals.

Westmoreland (7-2) visited Herkimer in the league Monday. Results were not available at press time.

Clinton (3-5) was at Sherburne-Earlvile in the league Monday. Results were not available at press time.

Van Olst scores 23 in Dolgeville win

Kerisa Van Olst scored 23 points for the Dolgeville girls basketball team in a 41-27 win over host Canastota Friday in the Center State.

Hadessa Leavitt scored five and pulled down 12 rebounds for the Blue Devils.

Dolgeville led 12-4 after a quarter and 23-12 at the half.

Statistics for Canstota were not provided.

Dolgeville (6-2) played at Mount Markham Monday in the league. Results were not available at press time.

Canastota (2-7) plays at 7:15 p.m. Wednesday at Chittenango in the league.

Izzo’s 17 help Little Falls basketball

A 20-5 second quarter powered the Little Falls girls basketball team past host Frankfort-Schuyler 62-45 Friday in the Center State.

Adrianna Izzo led all scorers with 17 points for the Mounties. Ava Grcic had 15 points and nine rebounds. Alexis Kress scored 12 as well.

Madison Kelly led Frankfort with 11 points.

Little Falls (5-4) played at West Canada Valley in the league Monday. Results were not available at press time.

Frankfort (2-8) traveled to Poland in the league Monday. Results were not available at press time.

Frankfort boys notch hardwood win

The Frankfort-Schuyler boys basketball team overpowered the Town of Webb at home Saturday 67-44.

The hosts ran out to a 21-10 first quarter lead and just kept growing the lead.

Roman Harrod led Frankfort with 19 points. Joshua Stemmer scored 17 and Angelo DeSarro scored 14.

Alex Williams led Webb with 19 points and Price Morris had 13.

Frankfort (6-4) is at Remsen at 7:30 tonight in the league.

Webb (2-7) played a non-league game at home against Long Lake Monday. Results were not available at press time.

Stockwell’s threes fuel Spartans past Oneida

The New Hartford boys basketball team held host Oneida to two first quarter points as part of a 60-40 win in the TVL.

Jameson Stockwell was 4-for-4 from three-point land as part of his 18 points for the Spartans. Zach Philipkoski also scored 18. Sal Weller Jr. added 10.

Gavin Stone led Oneida with 11 points.

New Hartford (4-4) hosts Proctor at 7 tonight in the league.

Oneida (2-6) hosts Utica-Notre Dame at 6:30 tonight in the TVL.

RFA hockey wins twice

John Sharrino’s two goals and two assists powered RFA hockey to a 5-3 win Saturday at home over Shaker High School at home, the day after the Black Knights beat Guilderland in overtime at home 2-1 Friday.

On Friday, Guilderland’s Keegan McGovern scored the team’s lone goal in the second period for a lead. But RFA rallied to tie and force overtime.

RFA’s Jacob Bruno scored and had an assist. Jack Pylman also scored. Nate Van Wie and Chris Brement had an assist each.

Braeden Sturtevant made 14 saves in goal for RFA for the win.

On Saturday, the Knights scored once in the first period but the teams were tied 3-3 after two periods. But RFA had only two goals of the third period to get the win.

Tyler Wilson and Carmen Orton had a goal and an assist each for RFA. PJ Summa also scored. Jake Premo had two assists and Jimmy DeAngelo, Nick Toth-Ratazzi and Jacob Swavely had one each.

In net for RFA, Donte Sparace made 20 saves to earn the win.

Scoring information for Shaker was not submitted.

With the pair of wins, RFA improves to 7-2-2 and hosts Fulton tonight at 7 in league play.

Oneida beats Westmo at net

The Oneida boys volleyball team shut out visiting Westmoreland in Section III play Friday.

Oneida won the sets 25-5, 25-9, 25-8. Oneida was led by Quinn Jennings and Spencer Ingmire, who had nine and eight kills, respectively. Rob Paul had 21 assists and five aces.

Westmoreland’s Jake Harter had two kills. Nathan Clough had three assists.

Oneida improves to 2-0 and hosts Little Falls at 6:30 tonight in the league.

Westmoreland is now 0-2 and plays at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Chittenango in the league.

Proctor tops RFA in JV hoops

The Proctor girls junior varsity basketball team defeated RFA 30-27 in Rome on Saturday.

Francesca Tidmore led Proctor with 10 points and Jazmine Brown added nine.

For RFA, Caitlin Platis scored six and teammates Natalia Dipaolo and Aryanna Rosario had five each.

RFA JV girls top Camden

The RFA girls JV basketball team got a 50-10 win against visiting Camden Friday.

Top scorers for RFA were Jayda Adolfi with eight points, Danielle Andrewski with seven and Barbara Ciotti and Sage Andrews with six each.

Gabby Kohli had four points for Camden.
