ROUNDUP: Oriskany edges Adirondack in CSC girls basketball; West Canada victorious

The Oriskany girls basketball team edged out visiting Adirondack 43-40 on Monday in a Center State Conference game where both teams had leads throughout.

Adirondack led 12-5 after the first quarter then Oriskany outscored the Wildcats by 10 in the second quarter. Adirondack took a one-point lead into the fourth quarter but Oriskany was ahead when time ran out.

Jordyn Coleman led Oriskany with 12 points and teammate Chloe Seamons had 11.

Statistics for Adirondack were not provided.

Oriskany (4-6) plays at 7 tonight at Sauquoit Valley in the league.

Adirondack (4-5) plays at 7 tonight at Dolgeville in the league.

Fellows drops 20 for West Canada

Reese Fellows led all scorers with 20 points in a 55-41 win for West Canada Valley girls basketball at home over Little Falls Monday in the CSC. The team has won all 11 games this season.

Fellows had a double-double with 14 rebounds in the win. Teammate Analyce Grabowski added 18 points and eight assists. Erin Gorinshek scored eight, had eight boards and five blocks.

West Canada trailed 12-8 after a quarter but rallied for a one-point halftime lead. The team then outscored the Mounties 18-9 in the third to pull away.

Alexis Kress led Little Falls with 18 points. The Mounties (5-5) host Cooperstown at 7 p.m. Thursday in the league.

West Canada hosts Herkimer at 7 p.m. Thursday in the league.

VVS volleyball tops Oneida

The Vernon-Verona-Sherrill girls volleyball team survived a comeback attempt by host Oneida to win in five sets Monday in the Tri-Valley League.

The Red Devils won sets 25-23 and 25-19 before Oneida came back to tie the match with set wins of 25-22 and 25-15. VVS won the match with a 15-12 set win.

Statistics for VVS were not provided.

Oneida’s Katie Kinney had 11 kills, six digs and four aces. Saige Meehan had 10 kills, eight digs and a pair of aces. Kaydence Bouchard had nine kills and four blocks. Ella McKay had 28 assists, five digs, two kills and two aces.

VVS (2-4) plays a league match at 7 p.m. Thursday at Central Valley Academy.

Oneida (4-5) hosts Clinton at 6:30 tonight in non-league play.

Whitesboro win streak halted

The Rome Free Academy girls volleyball team earned a 3-1 win at home over TVL foe Whitesboro Monday. The loss is Whitesboro’s first of the season.

The Black Knights won the first set 25-21 before the Warriors tied up winning a set 25-22. The Knights closed out the match with set wins of 25-16 and 25-22.

For RFA, Elizabeth Hanba had 16 kills, 10 digs and two aces. Kassity Cruz had eight kills, 23 digs and two blocks. Thylia Keoviengsamay had 33 assists, 15 digs, two kills and two aces. Shannen Calandra had 32 digs.

Whitesboro statistics were not submitted.

RFA (6-2) plays at 7 p.m. Thursday at Thomas R. Proctor in Utica in the TVL.

Whitesboro (8-1) plays at 7 p.m. Thursday at New Hartford in the league.

Dolgeville notches road win

The Dolgeville girls volleyball team went on the road and got a five-set win over Westmoreland Monday in the Center State.

The teams alternated set wins throughout the match. Dolgeville went up one with a 25-22 win before Westmoreland tied it winning a set 25-20. The Blue Devils re-took the lead with a 25-13 win then the Bulldogs forced a final set with a 25-10 win. Dolgeville won the match with a 15-13 set win.

Dolgeville’s Gianna Lyon had 10 kills, 21 digs, nine assists and three aces. Reece Lamphere had 11 assists, 13 digs, six kills and five aces.

Westmoreland’s Tessie Shafer had seven kills, 10 assists and four digs. Annabelle Yawn had seven kills and two digs. Bailee Serianni has 12 assists, four kills, three aces and two digs.

Dolgeville has won six in a row and is now 8-1. The Devils host Cooperstown at 7 tonight in the league.

Westmoreland (6-6) hosts Canastota at 7 p.m. on Thursday.

Spartans shut out ES-M at the net

The New Hartford girls volleyball team got a 3-0 win at home over East Syracuse-Minoa Monday in the TVL.

The Spartans won sets 25-22, 25-16 and 25-19.

Makenzie Desmarais had 11 kills, 10 digs and three aces for New Hartford. Teammate Elise Courto had 10 kills, 10 digs and four aces. Abby O’Connor had 22 assists as well as six digs and a pair of aces.

Statistics for ES-M were not provided.

New Hartford (9-1) hosts Camden at 7 tonight in the TVL.
