ROUNDUP: Downs, Enos pace Westmoreland over Sauquoit Valley on hardwood
Jacqueline Downs and Madalynne Enos scored 14 points each for Westmoreland in the Bulldogs’ 55-29 win at home over Sauquoit Valley in girls basketball Friday.
Downs added nine rebounds and seven steals. Enos had four assists and three steals. Teammate Julianna Otis scored 11 and added six rebounds.
Westmoreland led 20-11 after a quarter then held Sauquoit to two points to go up 29-13 at the half.
Alaina Weaver led Sauquoit with 25 points. Makayla Land had 10 rebounds and eight blocks.
Westmoreland hosts Waterville in the league at 7 p.m. Friday.
Sauquoit is home for Mount Markham in the league at 7 tonight.
Senior Jackson leads RFA past HP
Alysa Jackson hit six three-pointers and totaled 21 points in Rome Free Academy’s 71-27 win at Holland Patent in girls basketball Friday in the Tri-Valley League.
The Black Knights jumped out to a 47-16 halftime lead.
Amya McLeod had 17 points for RFA and Amiyah Ferebee added 11.
HP’s leading scorer was Faith Zylinsky with six points.
RFA (3-0) hosts Cicero-North Syracuse in a non-league game at 6:30 tonight.
HP (2-1) hosts TVL for Vernon-Verona-Sherrill at 7 tonight.
Jugglers get past Warriors
The Notre Dame girls basketball team ran away from host Whitesboro Friday for a 53-32 win in the TVL.
Alexa Durso led the Jugglers with 13 points. Ella Trinkaus scored 11, grabbed seven rebounds, had five steals and dished out four assists. Sydney Sehring scored 10 points. Maggie Trinkaus scored eight, had nine rebounds and had three assists.
Whitesboro statistics were not submitted.
Notre Dame plays on the road against Central Valley Academy in the TVL at 7 tonight.
Whitesboro hosts non-league opponent Oswego at 7 tonight.
Slow start leads to Clinton loss vs. Waterville
The Clinton girls basketball team was held to eight first half points Friday and lost at home 37-26 to Waterville in the Center State Conference.
Waterville led 24-8 at the break. Clinton rallied to make it 27-20 after three quarters but Waterville held on to win.
Natalee Collins led Waterville with 15 and added 12 rebounds for a double-double. Teammate Valorie Ford also had a double-double, with 14 points and 15 boards.
Clinton statistics were not submitted.
Clinton plays league opponent Cooperstown on the road at 7 tonight.
Waterville plays at 7 p.m. Friday at Westmoreland in the league.
Second half surge for Dolgeville
Down by two points at the half, the Dolgeville girls basketball team outscored Frankfort-Schuyler by 11 in the third en route to a 57-44 win Friday at home in the Center State.
Kerisa Van Olst led all scorers with 19 points for Dolgeville, adding five assists, three rebounds and a pair of steals. Hadessa Leavitt had a double-double with 12 points and 13 rebounds. Alexandria Comstock had 11 points and four rebounds.
Frankfort’s Madison Kelly led her team with 18 points.
Dolgeville hosts Herkimer at 7 tonight in the league.
Frankfort plays at 7 tonight at Adirondack in the league.
West Canada runs away from Hamilton
The West Canada Valley girls basketball team outscored host Hamilton by 11 in the fourth quarter to run away to a 50-36 win Friday in the Center State Conference.
Erin Gorinshek led all scorers with 22 points and added 12 rebounds for a double-double. Teammate Reese Fellows also had a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds.
Reagan Hope led Hamilton with 17 points.
West Canada plays a league game at 7 p.m. Friday at Oriskany.
Hamilton hosts Oriskany at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the league.
RFA sweeps Camden
The RFA girls volleyball team won all three sets at Camden Saturday in the TVL.
The Black Knights won the sets 25-17, 25-18 and 25-16.
Kassity Cruz had seven kills and nine digs for RFA. Elizabeth Hanba had seven kills, seven digs and three aces. Shannen Calandra had 20 digs and four aces. Thylia Keoviengsamay had 19 assists, three kills and a pair of digs.
Camden’s statistics were not submitted.
RFA hosts Vernon-Verona-Sherrill at 6:30 tonight in the league.

Westmoreland shuts out Adirondack
The Westmoreland girls volleyball team won all three sets on the road against Adirondack Saturday in non-league play.
The Bulldogs won the sets 25-14, 25-23 and 25-14.
Ava Geglia had 10 kills, four digs and a pair of blocks for Westmoreland. Tessie Shafer had 13 assists, five kills, four aces and a pair of digs. Bailee Serianni had 13 assists, three kills and three aces.
Statistics for Adirondack were not submitted.

Frankfort gets comeback win in volleyball
Trailing two sets to one, the Frankfort-Schuyler girls volleyball team rallied to win its home Center State match over Little Falls Friday in five sets.
The hosts won the first set 25-15 but Little Falls won 25-13 then 25-19. But Frankfort won 25-16 and 15-1 to take the match.
Carolyn Roser had two kills and four digs in the win. Teammate Amber Jacobs had two kills and three digs. Asia Coulthurst had two kills and two digs.
Statistics for Little Falls were not submitted.

RFA girls win Jensen relays
The RFA girls indoor track team won the Oscar B. Jensen Relays at Utica University Friday with 56 points.
West Genesee was second with 45, West Canada Valley was third with 41, Whitesboro and Herkimer tied with 38 points.
RFA’s Imani Pugh broke her own school record (8.58 seconds) in the 55-meter hurdles in a time of 8.52 seconds, placing first in the hurdle relay with freshman Akasia Carraquillio in a time of 10.95. The duo would also take third in the long jump with Pugh making a meet best 17 feet, three inches.
Pugh was also first in the high jump with a height of five feet, one inch. Her partner Katie DeHimer cleared four feet, 10 inches.
DeHimer was second in the pole vault with a clearance of eight feet, six inches. Her partner, Olivia Benson, cleared six feet.
Malaysia Thomas and Jaylene Decker teamed up to place second in both the shot put and the weight throw. Decker was second overall with a throw of 32 feet, 11 inches in the weight and Thomas was fourth overall in the shot with a throw of 27 feet, 11 inches.
