The Rome Rotary Club is calling for entrants to its annual Canalfest Photo Contest, Aug. 2-4.
All interested student and adult photographers can bring their black and white or color entries to Bellamy Park boathouse on Thursday, Aug. 1 between 11 a.m. and 5:30 p.m., where they will be displayed.
Sentinel photographer John Clifford will again be the contest judge, picking winners on Friday, Aug. 2 at 1 p.m.
Awards will be presented from the main stage area at the opening ceremony on Aug. 2 at 7 p.m.
Requirements for submissions are as follows:
All photos must be framed in a simple metal or wooden frame.
For a professional look, matting photo entries is encouraged.
Frames must be wired for hanging.
Photos can be black and white or in color.
Photos are judged on image, quality and presentation.
Cash prizes will be awarded for amatuer first, second and third place, as well as student first, second and third place. Ribbons will be given to People’s Choice, President’s Award, and Chairman’s Award recipients.
Professionals may enter to exhibit their work, but are not eligible for competition. For the purposes of the contest, a professional is defined as a photographer who makes more than 50 percent of his/her income through photography.
