Rotary Club collecting blankets for veterans in need
ROME — Rome Rotary Club will collect new blankets for veterans in need during the month of December.
Veteran and Rotary member John Zygmunt is the Rotary District Coordinator of Veteran Affairs. He will facilitate the distribution of blankets.
Bill Brand, commander of the Rome Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2246, will support Rotary’s blanket drive. Blankets and monetary donations may be left at the VFW Post, 315 N. Washington St., Rome, N.Y. 13340. All sizes of blankets will be accepted.
Rome Rotary Club has given more than $450,000 to the community in the last 10 years. Service Above Self is Rotary’s motto. They encourage new members to join them for meetings at Mohawk Valley Community College on Floyd Avenue at noon on Tuesdays.
For more information about the blanket donations, contact Carla Till at 315-336-7883.
