Ronald P. Ansonia, 81, of Rome, passed away on Friday, March 2, 2018 at The Grand. He was born in Utica on May 31, 1936, the son of the late Harry and Winifred Priest Ansonia.
Ron enlisted in the US Navy in 1956 and served his country for two years before being honorably discharged.
He was a surveyor for the city of Rome for several years and tended bar at several area establishments including the Beeches, Patty’s Stagecoach Inn, Sisto’s and Aquino’s.
Ron was a member of the Henry P. Smith Post #24 American Legion and was very active at the Rome Elks Lodge 96.
He had a passion for photography and took many photos for the city and the Elks.
Ron is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Laura and Greg Counts of Clutier, IA; a son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Kristi Ansonia of Baton Rouge, LA; mother of his children, Claire; two sisters, Barb Ansonia of Rome and Rosaland Kirkland of Camden; a brother and sister-in-law, John and Sharon Ansonia of Oneida; eight grandchildren, Eric, Tikki, Ronald, Jenniffer, Kristina, Monique, Brianna and Thomas; thirteen great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
