The City of Rome is scheduled to launch a newly designed website over the weekend with an official launch date of Monday, Jan. 22.
“When citizens, visitors, or tourists view the City of Rome’s website they are first greeted by a new design with a large visual on the homepage. This image will change with every season showcasing our four-season environment,” said Mayor Jacqueline M. Izzo.
The current winter photo of the waterfront was taken and donated by Michael Colangelo Sr.
The design approach is used to make people feel welcomed into the community “by just taking a glimpse into our city, enticing them to come visit and explore,” the mayor said.
In late 2014, the previous administration hired MPW Marketing of Clinton for services related to design, creation and distribution of all marketing materials, website content and social media dissemination. The contract fee is $75 per hour, and the website update is a portion of the $75,000 contract.
The site’s name remains the same: www.RomeNewYork.com.
An additional new feature includes a search bar on the homepage allowing visitors to access a range of information without having to navigate several pages.
There is also an improved events calendar located at the bottom of every page, a photo gallery under the community tab and a visitors tab that includes the city’s history and links to the Rome City School District, Rome Memorial Hospital, Mohawk Valley Community College, Griffiss Business and Technology Park, local real estate and leisure attractions, said Izzo.
Visitors can find information on all city departments including the new Rome NY 311 app on the Public Works page.
