The Rome Rotary Club has announced that its chicken barbecue fundraiser will be held on Saturday, Oct. 23, from noon to 4 p.m. at the Westgate Plaza, 1136 Erie Blvd. West. The food will be prepared by Scotty’s Smokehouse Bar-B-Que and feature a half-chicken and two sides. The cost is $13 per meal.
Each October, Rotary works to raise awareness of its efforts to eradicate polio. According the U.S. National Institute of Health, vaccinations have been highly successful in eliminating polio from every continent except for Asia. There are only two countries which still have this disease, Afghanistan and Pakistan.
Proceeds will go to fight polio and also to help fund the club’s scholarships to Mohawk Valley Community College.
