The Rome Rotary’s Club International Student Day will be Saturday, sponsored by the Rotary Club in collaboration with Utica College, SUNY Polytechnic Institute, and Mohawk Valley Community College.
The program, which began over 35 years ago, was developed to show Oneida County’s many international students the opportunities and attractions that Rome offers, according to an announcement by Rome Rotary International Student Day Chair Peter J. Costianes.
Participating students from the colleges will start with a visit to the Rome Historical Society. Lunch will be served at the First Presbyterian Church. Following lunch, students will tour the MVCC Airframe and Power Hangar.
The program will continue with a tour of the Fort Stanwix national historic site, and students then will participate in home hospitality visits at the residences of Rome Rotarians. Concluding the program will be a tour of the Capitol Theater.
MVCC, Utica College, and SUNY Poly have an international student population representing more than 25 nations around the globe.
The International Student Day program helps international students in the region familiarize themselves with the many opportunities that Rome has to offer, the announcement said.
