Due to multiple retirements over the course of the summer, the Rome Police Department announced several promotions this week.
Rome Police usually hold a ceremony in City Hall to recognize the career advancements, but the coronavirus pandemic has temporarily made such events not possible.
Instead, five of the newly promoted officers were sworn into their new positions in a quiet moment with Mayor Jacqueline M. Izzo at City Hall Thursday morning, officials said, while four others were sworn in over the past several months.
Sworn in on Thursday:
David Collins to captain;
Sharon Rood to lieutenant;
Kelly Lupinski to detective;
Dave Salle to detective; and
Joseph Hall to sergeant;
Sworn in previously:
Alex Sypniewski to detective;
Robert Galluppi to sergeant;
Daniel Vescio to detective; and
Michael Dematteo to lieutenant.
