Rome modified lax teams victorious


The Rome girls and boys modified lacrosse teams won Thursday. The girls defeated Chittenango 8-7 in its first game of the season. The boys defeated Utica Proctor 19-0.

Madalyn Parry scored six goals for the Black Knights. Amerie Smith scored Rome’s other two goals. Gabriella Sanzone had an assist.

Janai Haden had seven saves in goal for the Knights and Taylor Wright made three saves later in the game.

For the boys, Rome was led by Luke Hammon with seven goals. Steven Mudry and Collin Baldyga each had a hat trick. Jackson Marichion had a goal with seven assists. Jack Carpenter, Mark Varano and Aiden Vanwie each scored twice. Jacob Bruno had four assists and Aaron Coleman had one.
