Rome Medical Group adds clinical nurse manager

Rome Medical Group, a primary care practice affiliated with Rome Memorial Hospital, welcomes Marianne Turner, RN, as clinical nurse manager, announced Rosemel Atkinson, vice president of physician practices for the hospital.

Rome Medical Group, located at 1801 Black River Blvd., specializes in primary care for children and adults. The practice has earned recognition as a Patient Centered Medical Home for its patient centered approach to care.

“Marianne began her career as a Certified Nursing Assistant, then became a Licensed Practical Nurse and, while working in the pediatric and primary care departments at Rome Medical Group, she pursued her degree as a Registered Nurse. Therefore, she brings a wealth of knowledge to her new position,” Atkinson said.

“With more than 20 years of nursing experience in various types of medical facilities, including nursing homes, more than 10 years at Rome Medical Group, and in the maternity unit at Rome Memorial Hospital, she is also acutely aware of the ever changing world of delivering health care and how to navigate those changes to assure that patients receive the best possible care.”

“I chose to go into the health care field because I enjoy caring for and helping people. That is the most gratifying part of my job,” Turner said.

“As clinical nurse manager at Rome Medical Group, I will work with the providers, nurses and office staff, as well as practice administrators and managers, to assure that we are working as a team to keep the practice running smoothly. Ultimately, my responsibilities will be to assist in providing the best care for our patients.”

As the clinical nurse manager, Turner is responsible for managing the nursing staff, including scheduling and performance reviews, resolving patient issues, as well as creating and updating clinical policies and procedures. She is also responsible to assure all clinical staff is up to date with training and certifications.

“It is important to me that the staff feels comfortable coming to me at anytime with any concerns, knowing we will work together as a team to find a solution,” Turner said.

“It is important to maintain the best working conditions for our staff so that the patients of Rome Medical Group feel confident in the care and support they receive from our staff. “

Turner said that working as a staff nurse prior to entering a management position has given her great insight to the daily duties of a primary care nurse.

“I am able to understand and appreciate their daily stresses and concerns,” Turner explained.

“I took this position because I think my experience in many different areas of health care has given me extensive knowledge of patient care as well as how a primary care office functions. I am eager and always willing to share my experience and offer guidance whenever I can. We have an exceptional group of nurses and staff at Rome Medical Group and I am truly excited to be part of this great team. Together we will continue to grow.” For more information about the primary care and pediatric providers at Rome Medical Group, please call 315-337-3770.
