Rome man promoted to master sergeant

LATHAM — Kriston Brown, of Rome, has been promoted to master sergeant in the New York Air National Guard, according to an announcement by Maj. Gen. Raymond F. Shields, the state’s adjutant general.

Brown is an identification technician/air surveillance technician at the 224th Air Defense Squadron. The 224th ADS is part of the 224th Air Defense Group along with the 224th Support Squadron. The ADG is located at the Griffiss Business and Technology Park in Rome, and Detachment 1 and Detachment 2 that serve in the Washington, D.C. area. The 224th ADG provides the forces to conduct the Eastern Air Defense Sector’s mission.
