Rome man faces menacing and other charges

ROME — Accused of threatening another person with a butter knife, a 20-year-old man is facing multiple charges, according to the Rome Police Department.

Police said Tony E. Moonen, of Rome, confronted his wife at their residence on Depeyster Street around 10 p.m. May 16. During the confrontation, police said Moonen shoved the woman while she was holding a baby.

Another man was at the residence, and police said Moonen grabbed a butter knife from the kitchen and threatened the man with it.

A criminal summons was issued for Moonen and he was taken into custody on Wednesday on one count each of second-degree menacing, second-degree harassment and endangering the welfare of a child, police stated. He is scheduled to appear in Rome City Court.
