Rome man faces drunk driving charge


A 24-year-old driver was charged with drunken driving following a seat belt violation on East Dominick Street early Friday morning, according to law enforcement officials.

Police said Tyler A. Benedict, of Elm Street, was pulled over at about 3:13 a.m. at the intersection of East Dominick and Black River Boulevard after his passenger was spotted without a seat belt.

Once stopped, police officers said that Benedict was also found not wearing a seat belt.

Benedict then registered a blood alcohol content of 0.08%, police stated.

Benedict is charged with one count each of driving while intoxicated and not wearing a seat belt, the law enforcers

He is scheduled to appear
in City Court, the authorities added.
