Rome man charged in domestic dispute
ROME — A 42-year-old man is accused of attacking his wife and breaking a piece of furniture on Gifford Road, according to the Rome Police Department.
Police said Robert A. Springer was involved in a domestic dispute with his wife outside their home around 9:30 a.m. Dec. 24. A passerby spotted Springer hitting his wife on the ground and called 911, authorities stated.
Officers responded to the scene and said Springer and his wife were arguing over a motor vehicle. Police said Springer also damaged a hutch at the home.
The wife declined to press charges on the day and police said the evidence was turned over to Rome City Court. A warrant was issued for Springer and he was taken into custody on Monday on charges of second-degree harassment and fourth-degree mischief, authorities stated.
He is scheduled to appear in Rome City Court.
