Rome man accused of sending threatening texts
ROME — A Rome man is accused of sending threatening text messages to a parole officer, according to the Rome Police Department.
Authorities said the female parole officer filed a complaint at the police station on North James Street at about 11 a.m. Jan. 13 that Dakotah J. Cayton, 31, had sent her a text message threatening to shoot her. Police said Cayton is not currently on parole, but was familiar with the parole officer from the past.
After the officer made her complaint, police said Cayton telephoned the police station multiple times and made additional threats against Rome police officers.
Cayton was located and taken into custody on Jan. 20 on one count of second-degree aggravated harassment, police stated. He is scheduled to appear in Rome City Court.
