Rome man accused of restraining, groping wife during dispute at hotel

A 44-year-old man is accused of restraining and groping his wife during a domestic dispute at the Hampton Inn very early Friday morning, according to a report by local law enforcement officials.

Police said Jason L. Amo, of West Dominick Street, was involved in a domestic dispute with his wife while staying at a room at the Floyd Avenue hotel at about 4:21 a.m. Friday.

Police said the wife was holding their 1-year-old child when Amo laid on top of her and groped her, pinning her down.

Police said Amo also shoved her and took the woman’s cell phone away when she tried to call for help.

Amo is charged with one count each of second-degree imprisonment, second-degree harassment, fourth-degree mischief, endangering the welfare of a child and forcible touching, police stated.

He is scheduled to appear in City Court, authorities added.
