A 33-year-old Rome man is accused of breaking into a home and raping a 12-year-old girl, according to law enforcement officials.
Investigators said the Rome Police responded to reports of a home invasion in the city in late June, where they learned that 33-year-old
Tarkeem Jones forced his way into a home and sexually
assaulted a 12-year-old girl.
Following an investigation, authorities said Jones was identified and then located in the City of Utica on Aug. 12.
Jones is charged with one count of first-degree rape, a class B felony, authorities said.
He was arraigned in City Court and was sent to county jail without bail. He is scheduled to reappear in court.
Authorities said the victim has been offered counseling through the county Child Advocacy
