Rome Lions seeks entries for Peace Poster Contest

Rome Lions Club is looking for young people in Rome to share their creative ideas on what peace means to them through its “We Are All Connected” 2021-22 Peace Poster Contest.

The contest is an opportunity that allows children ages 11-13 to express what peace means to them. While overcoming new challenges brought on by an unprecedented global pandemic, Rome Lions Club is encouraging everyone to celebrate the things that keep them connected and invites young people to envision, explore and visually express these connections.

Posters will be evaluated on originality, artistic merit and expression of the theme, “We Are All Connected.”

Only one entry per student is accepted and each entry must be the work of only one student. Each poster must be between 13-by-20 inches and 20-by-24 inches. Do not mat or frame the artwork. Original creations must be submitted, and all mediums will be accepted. All chalk, charcoal and pastel entries should be sealed with a fixative spray to prevent smearing. Do not laminate entries. Three-dimensional entries will not be accepted. Nothing may be glued, stapled or attached to the artwork.

The top winner will receive $5,000. Locally, Rome Lions Club will provide three $50 prizes to the top three posters submitted locally from Rome City School District, Rome Catholic Schools and New York State School for the Deaf.

One of the three posters will then be selected for submission to the International contest.\

Entries must be completed and submitted by Oct. 22. For any questions and submission of entries, contact Anthony Ciotti at
