Rome Historical Society Annual Dinner is rescheduled


The Rome Historical Society Annual Dinner that had been scheduled for Saturday this weekend has been rescheduled to Saturday, Jan. 25 at the Delta Lake Inn, 8524 Fish Hatchery Road, the society announced.

Cocktail hour will begin at 4:30 p.m., with the dinner and program beginning at 5:30 p.m.

All tickets previously sold for the November date will be honored or refunded at the ticket holder’s discretion. For refunds, contact the Rome Historical Society at 315-336-5870.

Tickets for Jan. 25 are available at the society, located at 200 Church St., or from any of the trustees, at $40 for members or $50 for non-members.

The society during the dinner will present the Medal of the Order of 1777, its highest award, to Peter Leonard.

A native Roman, he has authored 10 books including Rome Revisited, Griffiss Air Force Base, and Rome Through Time, said the society.

Leonard, a local historian with an affection for the Civil War and Rome’s Fire Department, served as a
member of the Rome Historical Society’s Board of Trustees from 2014-2016.

The historical society is a non-profit organization under section 501(c)(3) of the U.S Internal Revenue Code.
