Rome Health to host career fair

ROME — Rome Health will host a career fair from noon to 3 p.m. Wednesday, May 4, at the hospital, 1500 N. James St., with same-day interviews and job offers for eligible candidates.

According to Human Resources Director Michelle Podeswik, Rome Health has opportunities available for those with experience, as well as individuals who are interested in starting a career in health care with room to grow.

Some of the opportunities available include non-clinical support staff in building services, plant operations, and food and nutrition. The hospital has openings for patient care technicians and nurse assistants. Sign-on bonuses are available for experienced registered nurses and new graduates.

The hospital’s five-star nursing home will be interviewing for transitional nurse assistants to complete the on-site CNA class to become certified.

The nursing home has “above average” staffing to deliver the best care to its residents and now offers a starting rate of $17 per hour for CNAs, according to Podeswik.

Candidates who are hired for open positions will have the opportunity to begin the employment process at the fair, including completing paperwork, drug screen and physical.

Bring photo identification and vaccination records. New York State requires COVID vaccination for those who work in health care settings.

With expedited processing, new hires will be ready to start their careers with employee orientation Monday, May 23.

“At Rome Health, we get to know and support each other in delivering the best care out there — here. It’s this common bond that unites us in serving our community every day,” Podeswik said.
