Rome Clean and Green to host second annual Good Clean Fun Mud Run


WESTERNVILLE — Rome Clean and Green is hosting its second annual Good Clean Fun Mud Run on Saturday, May 12. This 5K obstacle course race is held on the natural terrain at Woods Valley Ski Area on Route 46.

This event is sure to challenge and entertain athletes of all ages and abilities. This year, there will be more obstacles and more mud for more fun.

Together with a group of volunteers, including members of the Eastern Air Defense Sector, the Roman Runners and the Woods Valley Ski Patrol, Rome Clean and Green is hosting a day of fun for participants and spectators alike.

Entrants can run as individuals or as part of a group. Extra credit will count for team spirit; participants can dress in costume, run together and represent a business or organization. There will be prizes for Best Dressed, Best Team Name, Most Team Spirit and other categories. The pre-race expo kicks off at 7 a.m., and racing begins at 9. In addition, there will be a Mud Pie Run 1K for children 10 and under. The Mud Pie Run will begin at 11.

Not the competitive type? Spectators can have just as much fun as the participants. They can come out for a day enjoying the event and the scenery at Woods Valley.

There will be food and beverage service, including a chicken barbecue, as well as live entertainment throughout the day. Spectators are welcome and encouraged to attend. Parking is free.
