Rome bowling squads roll to victories

Behind Brandon Puccio’s match-high game of 265 and team-high series of 635, the Rome Free Academy boys bowling team earned a 8-3 victory over Cicero-North Syracuse on Wednesday at King Pin Lanes.

Jay Kucharek added a 627 series for the Black Knights while Corey Ott rolled a 618 series.

Josh Whitting finished with a 616 series for RFA.

Josh Cloute rolled a 255 game and a match-high series of 636 for the Northstars.

The Black Knights defeated C-NS in total pinfall, 4,480-4,422.

RFA is 6-2 on the season.

Lubey leads Black Knights

Rebekah Lubey rolled a team-high game and series of 216 and 575 for RFA as the girls bowling team also defeated, C-NS, 9-2 at King Pin Lanes.

Mary Kathryn Weyant added a 559 series for RFA while Olivia Deraway rolled a 210 game to go along with a 554 series. Chesira Fulgieri shot a 536 while Emily Matt rolled a 525.

Kaitlin Antinelli rolled the match-high game and series for C-NS of 225 and a 630.

RFA is 6-0 on the season.

RFA pins New Hartford

The RFA wrestling team scored a 48-36 home victory over New Hartford.

Isaiah Turner and Marc Darcangelo earned wins by pin for RFA.

Max O’Connor, Chris Whitman, Spencer Pisanesch, Ashton Thompson, Juan Gonzalez, and Michael Sovocool all earned victories by forfeit for the Black Knights.

Oneida comes back

In girls basketball, Oneida erased a four-point halftime deficit to come back and defeat the visiting Syracuse Academy of Science 55-43.

The Indians had four players score in double figures: Lauren Skibitski with a team-high 13 points, Sydney Lusher with 12, Anna Hood who recorded a double-double of 11 points and 10 rebounds, and Julianna Cavanagh added 10 points and seven rebounds.

Remsen sweeps Mills

The Remsen girls volleyball team earned a three-game sweep over visiting and league foe New York Mills. Set scores were 25-13, 25-20 and 25-21.

Julia Roos led the Remsen squad with five aces, five kills and six digs while Elisha Hamilton added three aces, four kills 19 assists and two digs.

Remsen is 2-2 overall and 1-1 in league play.
