Road work: Routes 49-233 bridge work continues

The Route 49 westbound ramp to Route 233 remains closed, with motorists facing a full ramp closure with a signed detour in place as bridge rehabilitation continues, according to the weekly road-work report from the New York Department of Transportation Mohawk Valley regional office.

In other closures, detours and alerts:

• Rome, Route 233 bridge over Wheeler Creek: Motorists will encounter a lane shift with all work being performed behind barrier.

• Utica, Route 5S between Cornelia Street and Broad Street: Multiple lane closures throughout the work zone. Utility work continues throughout the work zone. Highway lighting removal will occur on Route 5S between Cornelia Street and John Street in both directions.

Washington Street and Broadway will have lane and road closures due to drainage and water main installations.

The roads will not be closed at the same time. Second Street may need to be closed for the installation of granite curbing. Jay Street will remain closed from Genesee Street and Second Street. Burnet Street and First Street will also remain closed at the Jay Street intersection.

The Jay Street slip ramp to Second Street also remains closed.

• Utica, Route 5A between Route 12 and Whitesboro Street: A new traffic pattern will be encountered. Temporary lane closures will begin at the Whitesboro Street intersection and continue through the work zone.

The east and westbound passing lanes will be closed. Motorists may encounter flaggers and momentary delays are possible. Jason Street and Platt Street will remain open. Speed limit reduction to 30 mph.

• Utica, Route 5-8-12 southbound bridge to Burrstone Road: Motorists will encounter lane shifts on ramp due to bridge inspection.

• Utica, Burrstone Road ramp to Routes 5-8-12 southbound: Motorists will encounter lane shifts on ramp due to bridge inspection.

• Marcy, Route 291 between Route 69 and Old River Road: Motorists will encounter shoulder closures in both directions due to ramp and drainage work.

• Marcy, Route 49 between River Street and Route 12: Motorists will encounter shoulder closures in both directions due to concrete slab replacement.

• Camden, town of Florence, Route 13 between Mill Street and the Oswego County line: Motorists will encounter lane closures in both directions with flaggers due to driveway installation.

• Boonville, Route 12 between Route 28 and the Lewis County line: Motorists will encounter shoulder closures in both directions with flaggers in place due to roadside drainage.

• Sangerfield, Route 12 between Route 20 and Craigfoot Road: Motorists may encounter a possible northbound shoulder closure due to permanent message sign wiring, general site cleanup pending electrical service connection.

• Sangerfield, Route 20 between Route 12 and Newbery Road: Work will be performed off the roadway with no impact to traffic.

MADISON COUNTY

Lenox, Route 13 at Pine Ridge Road: Motorists may encounter short term lane closures with flaggers in place due to signal work.

Cazenovia, Route 13 between the Cazenovia village line and Chittenango Falls State Park: Motorists will encounter lane closures in both directions with flaggers in place due to paving operations.

Hamilton, Route 12B between the north and south village lines: Motorists will encounter lane closures in both directions with flaggers in place due to multiple construction activities, sidewalk excavation, structure work, milling and paving operations.

Hamilton, Route 12B at College Street: Motorists will encounter lane closures in both directions with flaggers in place due to the relocation of utilities.

HERKIMER COUNTY

Ilion, Route 51 bridge between Route 5 and Route 5S: Bridge will be re-opened to traffic. Motorists will encounter lane closures in both directions with flaggers in place due to utility and concrete work.

Little Falls, Danube, Route 5S between Route 167 and the Montgomery County line: Motorists will encounter lane closures with flaggers in place due to roadside drainage. Minor delays are expected.

Herkimer, Route 28 at the intersection of W. Steele Street and Mohawk Street: Signal work being performed off the roadway with no impact to traffic.

Herkimer, Route 28 between Shells Bush Road and Quarry Road: Motorists will encounter lane closures in both directions with flaggers in place due to culvert work.

Fairfield, Route 169 between Davis Road and Parkhurst Road: Motorists will encounter lane closures in both directions with flaggers in place due to culvert work.

Little Falls, Route 5 between the Route 167 overpass and Ann Street: Motorists will encounter a continuous eastbound lane closure due to drainage structure repair.

Webb, Route 28 bridge over Moose River: Motorists will encounter lane closures in both directions with flaggers in place due to bridge inspection.


MONTGOMERY COUNTY

Canajoharie, Route 5S between the Canajoharie Village line and Randall: Motorists will encounter lane closures in both directions with flaggers in place due to paving operations.

FULTON COUNTY

Johnstown, Route 30A between Briggs Street and Townsend Avenue: Motorists will encounter north- and southbound lane closures with flaggers in place due to curb work, excavation work and signal work.

Mayfield, Route 30 and Route 30A: Motorists will encounter a full road closure at the intersection of Route 30 and Route 30A with a detour in place. The detour will be Route 349 to Route 30A to Route 30. A temporary signal is in place on Route 30 at Route 349 intersection

HAMILTON COUNTY

Inlet, Blue Mountain Lake, Route 28 between Inlet and Blue Mountain Lake: Motorists will encounter lane closures in both directions with flaggers in place due to paving operations, drainage operations, snowmobile crossings, and culvert repairs.

Arietta, Route 8 between north and south sections of Old Piseco Road (County Route 24): Motorists will encounter lane closures in both directions with temporary signals at each bridge due to the rehabilitation of Route 8 bridge over Piseco Lake outlet, the Route 8 bridge over Sheriff Lake outlet and Route 8 bridge over Rogers Brook.

Arietta, Route 10 between Route 29A and Route 8: Motorists will encounter lane closures in both directions with flaggers in place due to guide rail installation.

Indian Lake, Route 28 bridge over Lake Abanakee: Motorists will encounter lane closures with a temporary signal and a speed limit reduction of 30 mph in the work zone due to bridge joint replacement.

Excavation work will occur in Rome, Clinton, and Hamilton. Motorists will encounter possible lane closures/lane shifts with flaggers in place. Pavement striping will occur in Fulton, Herkimer, Hamilton, Montgomery, Madison and Oneida counties. Lane shifts and flaggers may be encountered.
