‘Rising Stars’ production at Capitol postponed

The Capitol Arts Complex youth acting group “The Rising Stars” stage production of “Mystery of the Collage” scheduled for Sunday, October 24, 2021, has been postponed as several of its cast members are presently quarantined.

The new date is Sunday,
Nov. 7, at 5 p.m.

Janet Foote, director of the Rising Stars Youth Acting Group, said, “The quarantine is a safety measure as required by regulations. All of the kids have been wearing masks at all times except when eating.”

“Rising Stars follow the same guidelines as the Rome School System, plus a few extra safety rules,” Foote said.

“Most eligible students are vaccinated and tested regularly. The postponement of the show is for the safety of our students and their families,” she added.

Both Cinema Capitol auditoriums operate at 50% capacity, and the main auditorium at the Capitol Theatre will operate at 25% capacity for movie shows only.

All live shows at the Capitol Theatre will operate on a per-show basis, and the policy for each show will be announced in conjunction with that particular program.

Art Pierce, executive director notes the Capitol Arts Complex COVID policy in effect through November 15.

“Even though there is no mandate requiring us to limit our attendance at this time, we feel that, by doing so, we are making every effort to assure our patrons of a comfortable and safe experience,” Pierce said.

“This is a temporary policy, and we will hopefully be in a position to lift all restrictions soon,” the Capitol executive director added.

“The good news is that we have more than 1,700 seats in the Capitol Theatre, and we can accommodate 375 or fewer patrons in such a way that they can very effectively spread out,” he added. Masks will be required for all patrons when moving about in the facility, but that those who have been vaccinated may remove their masks when seated. Those who have not been vaccinated will be required to wear their masks at all times when in any part of the facility, except when eating or drinking, Pierce said.

Because of the nature of the performance and the ages of the cast members, the Rising Stars Showcase on November 7 will require that all patrons wear face masks at all times (except while eating or drinking) when they are in the building, regardless of vaccination status, and social distancing will be observed, he added.
