Ripa tallies six goals as New Hartford defeats Whitesboro in boys lacrosse

Mateo Ripa notched six goals and two assists and Dan Friedel scored two and had 11 helpers as the New Hartford boys lacrosse team beat host Whitesboro 22-1 in the Tri-Valley League Thursday.

Jarrett Sherman tallied four goals and teammate Sawyer Kramer had a hat trick and three assists. Wyatt Cull had a goal and an assist. Also scoring a goal each were Gabriel Cull, Derek Ferrone, James Bisaccia, Evan Dziegel, Jake Garcia and Gavin Williams.

In net for the Spartans, Gerrone made two stops and Walker Williams had one save.

New Hartford hosts non-league foe Carthage at 6 p.m. Monday.

Whitesboro is at Corcoran at noon Saturday in non-league play.

Chittenango tops HP in boys lax

The Chittenango boys lacrosse team got a 22-8 win on the road against Holland Patent Thursday.

Ryan Moesch led the Bears with seven goals and added two assists. Brendon Barnard scored four and had five assists. Vincent Lazarro scored four with one assist. Conner Meeks-Vaughn had a hat trick with six assists.

Jeremy Ludlow made six saves in net for Chittenango and Daniel Eisinger had four stops.

For HP, Jonathan Zylinsky scored five times and added two assists. Cole Racquet and Trenton Stockhouser each scored and Adam Stowell had an assist.

In net for HP, Melby Sann had five saves.

HP hosts Jordan-Elbridge at 10 a.m. Saturday.

Tapia and Nardslico net hat tricks in RFA girls lax win

The Rome Free Academy girls lacrosse team defeated Syracuse 13-7 Thursday at home in a non-league contest.

For the Black Knights Alyssa Nardslico had a hat trick and an assist and Alexandra Tapia had a hat trick as well. Fiona McMahon scored twice. Danielle D’Aiuto scored and had two assists. Amelia scored and had one assist. Also scoring a goal each were Drew Kopek, Isibeal McMahon and Susanna DeAngelis.

Alana Iacovissi had eight saves in net for RFA.

Syracuse’s Johnnae Rice had a hat trick in the loss.

Goalie Kiley Monroe made 12 saves for Syracuse.

RFA is 10-3 overall and 6-0 in the TVL. The Knights host New Hartford at 6:30 p.m. Monday.

Warriors edge out Spartans in girls lax

Whitesboro ran out to an 8-4 halftime lead and held off New Hartford for an 11-9 win at home in the TVL Thursday in girls lacrosse.

Gianna Parise scored six times for the Warriors. Maria Stuhlman had a hat trick. Abigail Dicks and Brinley Ronan tallied a goal each.

In net for Whitesboro, Rebecca Thomas stopped 16 shots.

For New Hartford, Ilana McCarthy had five goals. Bella Kolb had a hat trick. Riley Love scored and had an assist. Sophia Campola and Ella Greico each had an assist.

In net for the Spartans Emily Picolla stopped three shots.

New Hartford drops to 7-6 overall and 3-3 in the TVL. The Spartans play at Indian River at noon Saturday.

Whitesboro visits Watertown at 1 p.m. Saturday.

Oneida offense overruns CVA

The Oneida softball team scored early and often in a 19-4 win at Central Valley Academy in the Tri-Valley League Thursday.

Oneida scored three runs in the first inning, one in the second, six in the fourth, four in the fifth and five in the sixth.

Jillian Honness had a single, home run, two RBIs and scored three times for Oneida. Kaylin Curro had four hits including a double and triple, two RBIs and five runs. Olivia Friend had three hits including a double, three RBIs and four runs. Kennedy Curro had a hit, a run and four RBIs.

Kerrigan Crysler got the win for Oneida, going six innings and allowing an unearned run on four hits and three walks. She struck out four.

Madison Obreza took the loss in the circle. She went four innings and allowed 10 runs, nine of them earned.

On offense for the Thunder, Grace Scanlon had two hits and scored a run. Elanah Elthorp singled, scored and drove in two runs.

Oneida is now 8-3 and is scheduled to play a pair of games at the Mudville Morabito Tournament Saturday.

CVA, 6-5, was at Little Falls for a non-league game Friday. Results were not available at press time.

Camden’s Johnson homers in Blue Devils’ win over VVS

Ryleigh Johnson homered and drove in two runs in Camden’s 11-4 win at Vernon-Verona-Sherrill in the TVL Thursday.

Camryn Shenk doubled and tripled with three RBIs and a run for the Blue Devils. Kaitlyn Findlay had two doubles, scored twice and drove in a run.

Avery Prievo earned the win, throwing five innings and allowing four unearned runs on three hits and four walks. She struck out three. Johnson pitched the last two innings to earn the save, allowing a hit but no runs.

Kendal Lehnen took the loss in a complete game effort. She allowed 11 runs, six of them earned, on seven hits and three walks. She struck out eight. At the plate, she had a single and double and drove in two runs.

Camden improves to 13-2 overall and 8-1 in the league. The Blue Devils play a non-league game at 2 p.m. Saturday at South Jefferson.

VVS visits RFA at Kost Field in Rome in the TVL at 4:45 p.m. Monday.

Oriskany surges to victory

The Oriskany softball team was tied with host Town of Webb 4-4 after four innings but the offense came alive for nine runs in the last three innings to win 13-4 Thursday.

Jordan Carlo was the starting pitcher for Oriskany. She went two innings struck out two and gave up two hits. Ashley Reid pitched two innings and struck out a batter and gave up three hits. Juliette Tagliaferi picked up the save in three innings of no-hit relief. She struck out eight and walked two.

Tagliaferri was 2-for-5 at the plate with a double and a triple. Carlo was 2-for-4. Lani Roberts was 3-for-5 with two doubles and five RBIs. Ashley Reid and Kaylee Burnop each had two doubles. 

Jennifer Rundell took the pitching loss. Caitlyn Amendola was 2-for-4 with a double in the loss.

Oriskany is set to play a pair of games Saturday at the Mudville Morabito Tournament.

Whitesboro can’t overcome CBA’s big second inning

Christian Brothers Academy scored eight runs in the second inning and defeated host Whitesboro 9-3 in softball Thursday.

Allie Boule went the distance in the pitching win, allowing three earned runs on nine hits and three walks. She struck out seven.

For the CBA offense, Juliette Zimmerman and Mackenzie Witz each singled and doubled with a run scored. Erin Nardella had a single and double, scored and drove in one.

Emma Scranton was 3-for-3 with a triple, scored a run and drove in two for Whitesboro.

In the circle for Whitesboro, Addie Cook suffered the loss, going four innings and allowing eight runs, two of them earned. Courtney Robinson threw the final three innings, allowing one earned run.

Whitesboro played a TVL game at New Hartford Friday. Results were not available at press time.

Oneida tennis shuts out VVS

The Oneida boys tennis team took all five matches in a win at VVS Thursday in the TVL.

Winning in singles were Seth O’Connell, Spencer Ingmire and Drew Hicks.

The winning doubles pairs were Ryan Lusher and Ethan Schmidt and Jack Capotosto and Robert Paul.

Oneida ends the regular season at 11-1 overall and 6-0 in the league.

VVS, 8-5 and 3-2, hosted Camden in the league Friday. Results were not available at press time.

Raiders blank the Black Knights at the net

The Utica Proctor boys tennis team defeated host RFA 5-0 in the TVL Thursday.

Richard Nguyen, Mathew Marvel and Po Wah all won in singles.

The winning doubles tandems were Maksim Morgan and Hsa Moo Paw and Andre Solete and Khang Lai.

RFA ends the regular season at 4-6 overall and 2-4 in the league.

Proctor end the regular season at 5-4 and 4-2.

Clinton tennis tops LF

The Clinton boys tennis team got a 4-1 win at home over Little Falls in the Center State Thursday.

Winning in singles for Clinton were Samuel Butcher and Cooper Siddon.

Clinton won both doubles matches. Winning were the pairs of Jason River and Izzy Marcus and Connor and Logan Cook.

Clinton is 5-8 overall and 2-4 in the league. The Warriors visited Canastota Friday. Results were not available at press time.

CVA bests Oneida in girls golf

The CVA girls golf team defeated Oneida 250 to 275 at home at Doty’s Golf Course in TVL play Thursday.

CVA’s medalist was Delaney Raffle with a 51.

Oneida medalist Stella Davis shot a 51. She qualified for Sectional play on May 24 at Kanon Valley.

CVA, 3-4, hosts Holland Patent at 3:30 p.m. Monday.

Oneida, 2-7, will host Utica Notre Dame at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday at Old Erie Golf Course.

Notre Dame girls golfers defeat Camden

The Utica Notre Dame girls golf team defeated Camden 188 to 209 in the TVL Thursday at home at Twin Ponds Golf Course.

Notre Dame’s medalist was Kamryn Yerman with a 40. Sara Papale fired a 42.

Lainie Liberatore medaled for Camden with a 46. Madison Bird shot a 50.

Notre Dame was at New Hartford Friday in the league. Results were not available at press time.

Camden plays a road match at Rome Country Club against TVL foe RFA at 3:30 p.m. Monday.

RFA, VVS and New Hartford golfers square off

New Hartford scored a 191, RFA had a 203 and VVS scored a 208 in a TVL tri-match Thursday at Oneida Community Golf Course.

RFA’s Evie Denton led the team with a 46. Also scoring were Bella O’Rourke (49), Kayleanna VanDeusen (52) and Rachel O’Rourke (56).

New Hartford’s Julia Sassower medaled with a 44. Also scoring were Maddie Winfield (48), Brie Alberico (49) and Grace LaFountain (50).

Medaling for VVS was Alaina Coston with a 46. Also scoring were Sam Kaczor (53), Laney Faulkenmeyer (54) and Claudia Marsello (55).

RFA, 7-1, hosted Holland Patent Friday. Results were not available at press time.

New Hartford, 5-1, hosted Utica Notre Dame Friday in the league. Results were not available at press time.

VVS, 5-3, hosts Holland Patent at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday.
