Richard Nasby was welcomed into Heaven on July 24, 2022.

Rich was born and raised in Utica, NY, where he attended Utica Free Academy and Conkling School. He served as an altar boy at St. Louis Gonzaga Church and was a member of the Knights of Columbus.

In later years, Rich enjoyed serving as an assistant Boy Scout leader in Richfield Springs. Years later, after attending a Bible study where he met his wife, Linda, he experienced a spiritual awakening. He had found the Lord and his life was transformed.

Rich and Linda were married on February 14, 1980, and they started serving in ministry in 1981. The Lord called Rich to establish a prison ministry at the Coxsackie Correctional Facility in Coxsackie, NY. He was also on the staff of the Foursquare Church in Utica, NY. Shortly after, he and his wife Linda went to Fort Worth, TX, to help plant churches in that area. While serving in ministry in Texas, Rich helped establish city-wide outreaches to draw people to Christ. While there, he was on the staff at Ken Copeland Ministry, serving as a sous chef. Because of Richard’s Christian Lebanese background, he served as a Liaison to other Christian Arab pastors in NY City who were needing guidance in planting churches there. Among the many states where Rich ministered were California, Nevada, Texas, and New York.

In 1958, at age 19, Rich started as an apprentice meat cutter at Victory Markets, where he later became the meat manager. His career of over 40 years in the meat business took him all over upstate NY and throughout the Hudson Valley where he eventually retired from Hannaford in 2002.

When he wasn’t preaching, Rich loved being with family and friends, gathering together over food, making sausage with son-in-law John, gardening, reading biographies, singing in the church choir, and hunting in the Adirondacks. But first and foremost, he loved leading people to the Lord through teaching and preaching God’s word.

Rich is survived by his wife Linda; former spouse, Ruth Mignano; sons, Richard Nasby (Joan), Russell Nasby, Rosalyn Nasby Dragun (John), Ruthann Serdah; stepsons, Robert (Loana) and Christopher (Diana); brothers, John Nasby, Michael Nasby (Sherry), Bruce Hoffstetter (Bethelem), Leonard Hoffstetter (Deborah); sister, Nina Lilyquist; and many nieces and nephews. He also leaves grandchildren, Siobhan, Alana, Mohammed, Shadia, Samer, Rachel, Sarah, Emma, Camden, Kirsten, Kaiden, and Ellie; great-granddaughter, Khloe, and great-grandson, Radi; brothers-in-law, Walter Boswell and Ronald Boswell.

Rich was predeceased by his daughter, Renee Nasby Baker; son, Roy Patrick at birth; mother, Joan Shires, and father, Sidney Nasby.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting a donation be sent to Abraham House of Rome in Richard Nasby’s memory.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Arrangements are under the direction of McGrath, Myslinski, Karboski & Nunn Funeral Directors, 470 French Rd., Utica.
