Rome Capitol Theatre, 230 W. Dominick St., will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony and reception at its new auditorium at Cinema Capitol at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 1.
The event will be co-hosted by Rome Area Chamber of Commerce.
The second auditorium in the complex will join the first, which opened in November 2014, in offering the latest in independent movie releases.
With the newest screen, the Cinema Capitol will now offer two movies simultaneously, and will operate seven days per week, according to the announcement by Capitol Theatre officials.
The first cinema seats 50, while the new auditorium will seat 75.
The grand opening for Cinema Capitol’s screen 2 will occur the following day, with 4 and 7:30 p.m. shows.
The opening attraction is the new Warren Beatty release, Rules Don’t Apply.
There is no charge for the ribbon cutting ceremony. Light refreshments will be served.
